Exciting News! 🎉 APIFM and the Center for Asian Americans United for Self-Empowerment (CAUSE) are excited to announce that the Mobilizing Youth Advocates for Resilient Communities (MYARC) program has been selected for funding under the US EPA Community Change Grant (CCG) Track II! This prestigious recognition affirms APIFM’s 10+ years of work to address environmental justice issues and create a healthier, more equitable San Gabriel Valley. CAUSE provides APIs with essential tools, skills, and a supportive network through targeted programs that promote civic engagement, leadership development, and community advocacy to cultivate a new generation of leaders dedicated to addressing critical issues within their communities.MYARC is a comprehensive program that equips API youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools to:✅ Understand local environmental justice issues: Participants learn about air pollution, water quality, green space access, and climate change.✅ Develop leadership skills: The program fosters leadership, cultural understanding, and civic engagement, equipping participants with the skills to navigate government processes and influence policy.✅ Become effective EJ advocates: Participants are trained in mobilization, public processes, and influencing decision-making.✅ Engage their community: MYARC encourages participants to share their knowledge and experiences to raise awareness and foster equitable outcomes.✅ Collaborate with government: MYARC aims to ensure that youth voices are included in local decision-making processes, advocating for policies that promote environmental justice and community resilience.A special thank you to the local residents, community members, and city officials who have supported our work and continue to be invaluable partners in our efforts.Join us in celebrating this achievement and supporting the work of MYARC!#EnvironmentalJustice #APIYouth #MYARC #CommunityChange … See MoreSee Less

At the break of dawn, our mighty Distribution Coordinator, armed with the power of precision and our trusty, refrigerated van, swoops in to rescue the freshest fruits and veggies from our food-hero partners at Food Forward. With a van full of nutritional goodness, they race across the city, delivering the precious cargo to our secret packing headquarters: Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA). Meanwhile, the rest of APIFM’s Food Roots Harvest (FRH) team and SIPA staff members assemble inside the recreational space and construct a packing station worthy of legends. As the pallets of produce arrive, our team springs into action! With the speed of lightning, they unload, inspect, and pack the fresh goods into paper bags, ensuring each one is a bag of power and health. Once the final bag is packed, they are rolled up, transported to the distribution site, and unloaded at SIPA's Lucena on Court.  And just like that, our team completes another mission, ensuring that healthy food reaches the hands of those who need it most. A Day in the Life: Search to Involve Pilipino Americans
Hosting a produce distribution starts in the early morning when our Distribution Coordinator promptly picks up gleaned fruits and vegetables from our food aggregator partner, Food Forward, with our Food Roots LA refrigerated van and delivers to our distribution site, Los Angeles State Historic Park. Simultaneously, the rest of APIFM’s Food Roots Harvest (FRH) team and a LASHP staff member set up the packing station inside the Welcome Pavilion, a resource table outside, and at least 50 accommodating chairs for the older adults waiting for the distribution to start. Once the pallets of produce arrive, the team unloads, quality inspects, and packs the produce into paper bags. During the packing process, the FRH team distributes numbered tickets to the folks waiting in line—which they will exchange for a produce bag. Once packing finishes and tickets are disbursed, produce distribution begins! The numbers are called out in Cantonese, Toisan, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English. The community waits for their number to be called. When it is, they trade their ticket for a produce bag. What else do you spot in this video?
